Holiday giving is a beautiful thing, but requests for generosity turn into clutter when every brand has its hand out. TikTok wanted to host a simple, native platform for its users to give. So, instead of asking for cash, we asked for creativity. We initiated the Create for a Cause challenge on TikTok.

Users made or shared a video, and TikTok donated money to three fan-favorite charities: Best Friends Animal Society, DoSomething.Org, and Oceana. We recruited an army of celebrities to drive new downloads and inspire existing users to participate in our challenge. The result was one of the most effective social-first holiday giving campaigns in history, proving creativity has a lasting impact for good.

This campaign raised $2 million total, created 1.4 million videos, acquired 300K new TikTok users, achieved 21 million video views, 3 million video likes, a 1200% increase in daily active user participation, and a 6x video share rate.
